@ 2 years 2 months 1 week and 3 days old

Just a short update on myself..

1. I can sing ABC, twinkle twinkle little star. I am learning Ba ba Black Sheep, Birthday song and 10 little Indian boys. I love singing song. I will hum or sing on my own when I play by myself.

2. I am talking in sentences now. I will string a few words to form the sentence. Eg, I want go Daddy there. Mommy bathe bel bel (I call myself bel bel). Bel bel fight ko ko. Let's go. Mommy bring bel bel shopping. Ko ko help bel bel fix (something spoil). Ko Ko hug bel bel.

3. I always pull out my spectacles lately. Maybe due to the scratches on the lens that causes discomfort in my vision.

4. I am stil fussy about food. What I like yesterday, I might not like it today.

5. I love drawing and scribbling on paper.

6. I love going kai kai. To me, kai kai means I can walk around on my own freely.

7. I self feed when we are eating outside. I can feed myself quite well.

8. I am as stubborn as mommy.

9. I like to pull ko ko's hair, spectacles (I broke ko ko spectacles last week by pulling it from his face), scratch him and even hit him. But I also love him very much.

10. Mommy hit me with rotan very hard while I accidently draw on the white sofa with the multicolour highlighter daddy brought back yesterday.

11. Well, mommy and daddy say I am a very naughty girl wor..

12. I am also very active and restless. I move non-stop and can hardly sit still.

13. I know how to pull down my own pants.

14. I want to walk on my own and don't like to be guided by mommy.

15. I love playing water. I like to wash hands on my own in the toilet by standing on a small stool. I don't like mommy helping me.

16. I don't like mommy doing work in the kitchen.

17. I run super fast and always fall down and injured myself.

Is that all? Can't think much at the moment..will update when there are more..

Open...open...(yes, I can unzip my sleeping bag)..

@ 1 year 9 months 4 weeks 1 day old

Mommy's nightmare is here..it happened much earlier than what she is expected.

I CAN UNZIP THE SLEEPING BAG ON MY OWN AND TOOK OUT MY LEGS..

Mommy's main intention of putting me in sleeping bag is to prevent me from climbing out from the playpen (since I am sleeping on my own in my own room). The sleeping bag will restrict my leg movement. Of course, it also served its secondary purpose of keeping me warm.

I loved it initially and I thought it was pretty. I wanted to wear it for most nights..how stupid I was until I find out the true colour of this sleeping bag. I started not to like it...about a month back..

Every night and morning, I tried to remove it by unzipping the zipper. Sometimes can and sometimes cannot.but today, I finally able to do it with ease and took out my leg.

Now, mommy has to think of another way to prevent me from climbing out from the playpen...

p/s: It's already 11.30pm and everyone is already in dreamland, except mommy and me. Mommy wanted to sleep but she has to make sure I sleep first before she can go to bed...I can sense that she is getting frustrated with me and started to scold me just now, I felt so sad and immediately my tears filled my eyes but I dare not cry. I better sleep now before she starts to beat me...nite nite...

Sliding on my own

@ 1 year 9 months & 4 weeks old

Yesterday marked the first time I climb up and slide down a tunnel slide on my own - with daddy and mommy keeping an eye on me. I can sensed both of them were anxious and worried.

I was very excited and happy and kept wanted to do it again. So I slide down the tunnel slide a few times. Mommy taught me to lie down flat and put my hand on my chest when sliding down but I tried to get up a few times half way sliding down. Later, I wanted to climb up and explore further but daddy didn't allow. He said it was hard for them to monitor me up there.

This evening, mommy was with me alone. Kor kor was playing with his friend. I wanted the slide again. Didn't I tell you before I love slides? This time mommy sat at the bottom and let me climb up on my own (better grip without long pants and shoes). I climb up and slide down myself..it was not too difficult and I think I can handle myself very well.

Later, I wanted to climb up there again and mommy get kor kor to help me. I went up first, then kor kor hold me, while mommy quickly climb up and catch hold of me. I then walked happily up there. It was tiring for mommy to take care of me in the playground nowadays.

New year new routine??

Well, I am turning 22 months old this month and it means I need less sleep and more play time. But mommy still prefer me to take 2 naps a day, with in between 3-4 hour wake time. Because I am growing older and with the 2 naps a day, I am sleeping later and later - around 10 to 11pm nowadays. It was ok during the school holiday because everyone was allowed to sleep late and wake up late but with the school reopen, kor kor has to sleep early.

Hence, mommy thought maybe it is time for me to switch to 1 nap a day, so that I can sleep early at night too. It sounds good, but come to this new routine, there are many adjustment needed to be made for mommy and kakak at home.

Usually if I take 2 naps a day, my latest routine is like:

8.00am - 9.00am Wake up time
12.00pm - 2.00pm Nap time
5.30pm - 7.00pm Nap time
10.00pm - 11.00pm Bedtime

The 2 naps fall on kakak's cooking lunch and dinner time, then mommy has the time to fetch kor jor back from school and bau bei in the evening. If we switch to 1 nap a day, it means I will be napping at 2pm to 4pm - this is the most free time for kakak. Mommy and kor kor also will be at home at this time. Then, mommy and kakak will be having a hard time adjusting their cooking and "fetching" time to take care of me while the other busy with work. So, they need to adjust themselves to this new routine if I switch to 1 nap.

Mommy is kind of reluctant to make this adjustment. It is not benefiting her but it will benefit kakak a lot as she has more free time to herself.

Anyway, somehow I still need to make this changes soon as I really need lesser sleep nowadays. It is a transition time whereby certain days I am still taking 2 naps a day and some days (when I wake up late, mommy no longer wake me up at 8am+ now), I will only take 1 nap a day. Everyone, including myself, is getting confused with this changes in my routine.

Hopefully I will adjust to my new routine soon...though mommy still wish I can take 2 naps a day but it is IMPOSSIBLE..I am turning 2 soon and I will soon be taking 1 nap a day..

Mommy, mommy...you really need to make this adjustment..

December 2011 updates - 21 months old

December is a busy month for us. Mommy was so busy preparing the learning materials for me during the first half of the month and I was busy learning and playing too. I started to like my "learning room" and will walk in there and tell mommy "learn learn"...But I don't stay there for too long unless I can play water inside (montessori activity - pouring water from cups to cups).

Now when I see the world map, I will also point at the map and said "ding dong"..the way tweedle wink introduce us the country on the big wall map.

I like tweedle wink "jie jie" but I don't really like the classroom. I find the subjects that they taught are not interesting. I kept wanting to go out and play with the toys outisde. Mommy has to constantly pull me back to focus on the teacher/tv again. I made mommy more and more stressful each lesson as I am too familiar with the environment there and hence has no respect over the teacher and classroom. So, mommy decided to stop me because she feels that it is too young for me to focus on the subjects presented and some learning materials, she can prepare at home and learn it at home too. So, this month is the last month of me attending Tweedle Wink. I think I will miss the jie jie there...:(

Daddy brought us to a big swimming pool (Pusat Akuatic Shah Alam) on the first Sunday of December. It is my first time stepping into a public pool. I love it...I love water since young. Mommy bought me a simple swimming suit last minute at the sports shop there. Daddy earlier wanted to bring us to Shah Alam Wet World but it was too crowded, so we ended up in Pusat Akuatic Shah Alam. I wanted to step into the pool the minute I saw the swimming pool. I was not afraid at all. Later mommy put me into a float and I enjoyed kicking in the pool on my own. Kor kor was having lots of fun too. Daddy didn't get into the pool. It was mommy all the while accompanying me inside the pool.

When it was time to leave, I refuse to leave the swimming pool. I was screaming and crying and still wanted to be inside. It was not easy to get me out of the pool. Mommy then bathed me outside the shower area and the water was cold... Finally I managed to calm down when daddy offered me bun. I was super tired after the water playing session and slept on the way back.

We also went to Melaka on the 2nd weekend of December. Daddy brought us to the beach but this time I refused to step foot onto the sandy beach. Mommy was carrying me down the car and she suddenly just place me down the sandy beach without giving me any warning or preparation and I suddenly got a shock of the soft feelings on my feet. From then, I refused to be put down. Poor daddy has to carry me all the time. I was having a good time in Melaka performing my tricks to my grandparents and grandaunties. I started eating adult rice when I was in Melaka. Since mommy did not prepare a special meal for me, so I eat what grandma cooked or what the adults eat..and I LOVE it..I love adult food..it was just so tasty..I ate fried rice, I ate rice with fish and vege, I also ate chicken rice. Yummy...yummy... from then on, mommy decided to let me have rice as my main meal since I totally rejected porridge after this trip. So, it marks a new milestone for me in this month that I started eating rice and adult food.

I also like to wear adult shoes..like kor kor the last time..I was walking around in adult shoes in Melaka and I was also trying to do that back home.

Mommy has been wanted to give us a sand pit but our garden is not big. In mid December, mommy get to know that Mothercare is selling the sand for 30% discount and immediately she ordered 2 packets and another 4 packets for yi yi SY. She filled it up in my sensory box and yeah..I can play with sand now..I love playing with sand more than the small pebbles earlier on. Even kor kor and mommy also like to play with it..

Then came this day daddy took a day off and brought us out to The Gardens. Mommy said it was their marriage registration anniversary. Mommy looked happy that day and she brought us to a place and I suddenly saw a big "Octopus" and I wanted to go in..mommy and daddy were standing at the counter for some time and I just couldn't wait..I lung myself there and wanted to go in..When they tried to bring me away, I started crying out loud. I just want to go in and play..I was crying and insisting to go in..no choice, daddy saw me like that, he just bought the ticket for kor kor and myself to go in and have fun. Wow...I just love the place..so much fun..there have something like a pool and I can walk and jump on top of the water..then I saw some balls on the floor and I pick it up and went to a ball pool. I spent some time there and I was totally enjoying myself in the ball pool. I then explored the place a bit more and I refused to leave when daddy sounded it was time to go. I was holding the ball in my hands and refuse to give back when we exit the place.

Daddy said I am such a playful girl, know to demand for "fun" thing. Last time kor kor was not like that and he was not demanding at all but I am totally different. Daddy said I might ended up a "high maintenance" girl next time..whatever I want, I will sure get it...

Then came the Christmas. Well, I don't really know what Christmas is and I don't really bother what "present" is too... I just know that mommy's friend came to our house on the eve of the day and I saw 2 kor kors playing with my kor kor. The next day, I saw there are many colourful boxes lying below the christmas tree..I love the ball ball hanging on the christmas tree..mommy tried to ask me to open the present but I was not interested in those colourful boxes. Kor kor ended up opened it all for me. Once it was opened, I will fight to play with it. I like the puppy dog from mommy..it can walk and bark. I just like animals...Another present that I like is the pushing aeroplane given by Aunty SL. I like to push it around and it has "ding ding ding" sound.

Next few days, mommy took out some paint for me to play..I enjoyed playing with it. However, there was this finger paint that we needed to put our finger in there and paint with our finger. I don't want to get messy and dirty. I just instructed mommy to do it and I refused to put my own fingers in...

This month I also saw my yi yi a few times..yi yi SS and her family. I also met my maternal grandparents once and my paternal grandparents a few times. I am not so afraid of strangers nowadays and willing to play with them. Just that I don't simply allow anyone to carry me.

Mommy finally decided to cut my fringe few days before the year end. She has been wanted to cut it but daddy doesn't allowed. Though I look prettier with my long fringe, it has blocked my eye sight and looked a bit messy if I don't pin it up or tie it up. So, mommy took out the courage and gave me a nice hair cut..Look..what do you think? Mommy and myself were kind of like it..

I am more cheekier nowadays and know how to "prolong" my bedtime. I will bully mommy by requesting her to read books after another, then laze around on the big bed and hide my legs when she wants to put the "sleeping bag" on me. I will not accept the pacifier because once I accepted, it means I have to go to sleep now. Mommy said I am getting smarter and smarter...

However in the car, I will request for pacifier and once I have my pacifier, I will quietly sit in the car. Mommy finds the pacifier very useful in car rides but sometimes she forgotten to bring it out for a short car ride, I will kept asking for it and started to throw tantrums if I don't get it.

I still like to fight with kor kor whatever he is playing or having. I know kor kor loves me a lot and he will sure give in to me. But mommy said she needs to start discipline me already wor..:( She said I cannot keep on bullying kor kor like this...

Nowadays I like to go out..when I see anyone going out, I will want to follow too. I will say "kai-kai kai-kai". When I see mommy, I will leech to her and want her to carry me.

I love to climb stairs...not climb..walk up and down the stairs. I also like to sit at the staircase.

I love to eat raisins and cranberries. I love oranges too.

Mommy sent me for my last booster jab this month. The minute I entered the doctor room and saw the doctor, I started crying. The doctor took my measurement and said that my weight is below average, my height is above average and the best is my head circumference, average..But the doctor said I am fine. I developed some fever after the jab and later recovered from it.

I ended 2011 with some mild cough and cold. I have not recovered from it yet.

Overall, I am a happy 21 month old toddler and started to show signs of terrible two. Tantrum is a new word to me and I started to have it too. Here, I wish everyone a happy new year.

Eating rice & hold my own milk bottle..

2 major milestones that I have achieved in my 21 month old, before the arrival of 2012...

1) Eating rice..
Yes, mommy have started me on rice since 3 weeks back, after we came back from Melaka. I rejected porridge and even fish. So mommy gave me adult food in Melaka and I seems to love it. So from then on, I have started eating adult food and having rice and noodles for my main meal.

2) Holding my own milk bottle..
About 2 weeks back, I started to request to hold my own bottle. So, now mommy will place me on top of a pillow and pass me the milk bottle. I then can finish the milk on my own. Yet, at times, I am a bit lazy and wanted to be fed. So, mommy will still help me at times...

Mommy is proud of the milestones that I have achieved...

A detailed 20 months milestones updates

It has been a long time since I updated Isabel's milestones. She has grown up so much till that I find it hard to keep track of her milestones monthly. Let's see what she has been up to today...

Sleep
------
1. She is sleeping better this month. She has stopped midnight feed. If she wakes up in the middle of the night, usually I just need to carry her, comfort her a while or give her the pacifier and put her down and she will sleep again. I can say that she has started sleeping through the night in her 19 months. (keeping fingers crossed)

2. Proud to say that she is still sleeping on her own in her own room now.

3. I am putting her in a sleeping sack during night time(thanks mil to sew one for me), so that she cannot climb out from the playpen when she wakes up. She can climb up the playpen now and had been very adventurous with that.

4. She likes to hug her soft toys to sleep at night. It can be her minnie, mickey, pooh bear, or bear bear and now she has a new doll doll. She also has her 2 favourite bolsters.

5. Her normal sleeping time range from 9.30pm to 10.30pm and wakes up between 8.00am to 9.00am. Her first nap will be 11.30am - 12pm and wakes up latest by 2pm. Second nap starts around 5pm - 5.30pm and wakes by latest by 7pm. Her nap lasts around 1.5 to 2 hrs each. We will wake her up if she didn't wake up the time she supposed to. But lately she has started waking up as early 7.15am. Usually I will give her morning feed at this hour and most of the time she will sleep again till 8am+.

6. When she wakes up in the morning, she likes to laze around in the room/on the big bed for a while. Then slowly, she will venture to the floor and laze on the floor and later starts playing with her toys in the room. She likes to lie on big pillow. Certain days, she likes to sleep on the big bed. SHe likes to lie on kor kor's bed every time she gets into our room.

Eat
----
1. Didn't like her food but love adults food. Still doesn't like porridge and needs fish on EVERY meal. She also like to spit out the porridge like a process machine. Need to put on her favourite show, then she will eat nicely. SHe will spit out any chunky part of the food and I still need to blend her porridge for easy feeding.

2. She can finish a bowl of porridge and a big slice of fish every meal. Her porridge contains at least 2-3 times of vegetables (green and orange colour) with ikan bilis soup. Daddy fillet the fish for her.

3. She started on babies tit bits this month and we also start letting her try on a variety of adults food like fried rice, noodles, fries.

4. She likes fruits. Especially orange and apple and banana. She will look for hubby for fruits every evening after our dinner time. Her eyes are very sharp and her nose is very sensitive. She can see/sense that Darling is taking out fruits from the kitchen while she is playing or can smell if Darling is peeling orange and will run to him pastering for "oran..oran...".

5. I have started introduce her "misua" with soup this month. She seems to accept it well. I need to slowly introduce her a variety of "grown up" food soon.

6. She loves bread. Whenever she sees bread, she will want to eat it. She also loves raisins. Honestly, I have not been adventurous with her in food as she is so fussy with her main meal, that I stopped exploring her with other food that has strong taste. I am afraid she will rejects her plain porridge more once she has tasted other food.

7. Most of her teeth is out, except the lower and upper Canine. However, I can see that it is growing and has already cut through her gum. I am not sure her 2nd molar has out or not but if I remember correctly, it seems like out already.

Play
------
1. She is one playful girl. Her favourite playmate is her brother. She plays very wild with her brother. She is one "monkey see, monkey do" - just follow what the kor kor does and try to do it on her own. Example, kor kor jumps, she attempt to jump too even though she has not mastered the jumping skill yet. Kor kor lie down on the floor, she will do the same. Kor kor dance, she will dance too. She is very happy when she is her kor kor and even happier when the kor kor started running because she will start chasing after him and mommy will have to scream (usually at the kor kor) to stop them from running.

2. She loves to play ball, puzzles and bubbles. She is good in fixing wooden puzzles. She loves to draw too (learn from kor kor).

3. She can stack the wooden blocks (she will count 1,2,3.up to 5) or lego blocks like a tower.

4. She started some pretend play with her doll doll like feeding them milk or food.

5. She can play better without kor kor around. She can play on her own for some time without our help. But with kor kor around, she will usually disturb him, fight toys with him and just run around with him.

6. She loves playing her iPad. She can handle the iPad very well, selecting her games, choose her songs/videos in youtube and navigating the screen.

7. I allocate one session of structure play time with her in my room everyday.

Speech
-------
1. Improved a lot in her speech this month. She has started saying 2 syllabus words and starting to form 2 words sentences like

She will say "share share" if wanted something from someone else. "She will say "mum mum" when she wants to eat. She will say "bathe bathes" when I take off her clothes and lead her to the washroom. She can say "walk walk" if she wants to come down from stroller or tricycle. She will say "milk milk" if she wants milk. Basically she starts to convey her message through speech.

3. She can say other words like "chair, park, pants, iPad, princess, halo, bye, bread, drink, kai kai, fish, drop, hoorey, pretty, dirty, ball, bubbles, baby, mommy, daddy, kor kor, gong gong, aunty, uncle, grandma, grandpa, poh poh, jia jia, mei mei, di di, book, nice, play, phone, doll doll, bear bear, hat, tacle (spectacle), tiker (tickle), geli, itchy, bite bite, cream, milk, apple, oran (orange), star, quare(square), shoe, berd (bird), dog, cat, number 1-12, most of the alphabets........(can't recall all)

Intellecture
--------------
*what I mean "know" here is she can actually it out.

1. She knows 1-10.

2. She knows 90% of the alphabets. Sometimes some of our hair drop on the floor and form a shape like an alphabet, she will point to us and tell us it is a c or g or s.

4. She knows colours like red, blue, green and yellow.

5. She knows the body parts like, eye, nose, mouth, ear, eye brow, hair, head, hand, leg, belly button (she calls this "shame shame").

6. When we go to car park, she will point at the pillar and read to us the numbers or alphabets that printed on it. When we enter the lift, she will read out the numbers or alphabets (G, LG,C) at the buttons or screen in the lift.

7. She is good in playing one of the iPad game that shows 3 to 6 alphabets and she has to point to the right alphabet after hearing what the iPad says. She gets it almost all right most of the time, unless she is not paying attention. She will follow the ipad to say "good job, perfect, hoorey" after she get it right.

8. She can hum ABC song and twinkle twinkle little star. She will try to sing and only manage to utter the last word of each sentence.

1. She is more socialable as compare to her younger days. She is willing to greet people.

2. She loves to play with children.

3. She is closer to her grandparents nowadays.

4. She is willing to sayang(hug), shake hand, hi-5, flying kiss with people when asked to.

8. She can sit on a children chair on her own and attempt to stand on chair.

9. She tries wearing pants and socks on her own.

10. She can put on her spectacles on her own. If the spectacles get misallign, she can adjust the spectacle herself.

Emotional
-----------
1. SHe is very sensitive and emotional girl. She is also very manja. SHe is also a little timid.

2. SHe will run to daddy and wants daddy to bau bau (carry) when daddy comes back from work.

5. When she hears some sad song/melody, her eyes will get red and fill with tears and not long, she will start crying.

6. She likes to say "scared scared"..sometimes to loud sound, lights or something I don't know. When she is scared, she will lung herself towards me and hide her face in my body. But at times, loud thunder also doesn't affect her. I can't foresee what really frighten her. I suspected sometimes it could be her being too manja.

Overall, she is defintely not a baby anymore. She has grown up a lot and I find that she is more matured. I can't recall Darren knowing so much at this age. SHe is definitely a smart girl and I think she is very adorable too..hahaha...well, which mother doesn't think their own kids are the cutest in the world right?

Anyway, Isabel, mommy wanted to tell you, you are really the gem in the house and you bring us so much joy and laughter. Everyone just love you so much...and mommy love you HEAPs too...muaks..muaks...

My chicken pox jab

@ 1 year 3 mths 1 week and 1 day old

Mommy brought me for my chicken pox jab last Tuesday. As usual, I was crying and hiding away when the doctor took my statistic. At the end, they failed to obtain my height. I am slightly below average but still fall under the normal range.

When the doctor jab me, I cried my lungs out again. I am definitely not as brave/tough as korkor.

Luckily I didn't develop fever this time round. Doctor said I still have another pneumococoa booster jab next month..OH no....not anymore....WUAAAAA....

After reached home, while mommy tried to wash my hands at the sink (my upper body was bending down), suddenly mommy saw blood dripping down and she got a shock when she saw the blood dripping down from my nose. My nose bleed again, for the second time. Immediately she let me sit up right and tried to wipe away the blood. Thank God my nose stopped bleeding after that.

Mommy tried to call doctor but the doctor's phone was engaged most of the time and she failed to reach her even by the evening. Anyway, it was bleeding just for a while and later she observed me and found that I was behaving normal and fine. SHe never try contact the doctor again the next day.

Mommy forsees I will have more nose bleed sessions coming since my nose bleeds for 2 times already in just a few months time. She just hope my nose is ok and did not have any problem.

I'm drinking from straw

Last week while mommy attending the Disney Junior event in Bangsar Village II, daddy was babysitting us and brought us around the shopping mall. He then walked into a baby shop and spotted a water tumbler for me. It was the straw type of tumbler (Munchkin brand). Since my Avent sippy cup is leaking, daddy bought this for me.

Few days later, mommy took it out and let me try. I was happy having the new tumbler and mommy helped me to put the straw in my mouth. I bite it at first, then chew it later...then later, I slowly somehow suck it and there were water getting into my mouth. Slowly, slowly...I suck and more and more water getting into my mouth. I finished almost the whole bottle of water in no time and still refuse to let go. I just love this tumbler.

Nowadays, when I was given this tumbler to drink water, I can drink lots and lots of it and finished almost the whole bottle of water. Now, mark my new achievement...I am drinking from straw now...thank you Daddy!!

Happy 14 months old

This little girl of mine is no longer a baby anymore. She has definitely grown up so much. Since we came back from Melaka, somehow she has turned into a little cili pidi - fierce and angry little girl. She knows how to scold us by making some loud angry sound and showing her angry face (frowning look). I can't remember her kor kor showed any sign of this at all at this age. She can really fight. Since her grip is very strong, when she is holding on to something, you can't get it out from her hand. If you take it away by force, she will cry out loud. She knows how to use "cry" as a weapon nowadays. When she couldn't get what she wanted, she will cry too. When kor kor bullied her or even she bullied kor kor and I came into the picture, she will use "cry" to make herself like a victim. A drama queen.

She loves her kor kor the most. She follows what the kor kor does. When kor kor laughs or does funny things, it will definitely make her giggle or laugh out loud. The first thing she sees her kor kor is to hug him. She will hug the kor kor from time to time, same as the kor kor too. Very loving for both of them. When she wakes up middle of the night and requested to go out of the room, what I need to do is to just bring her into my room and show her kor kor is sleeping and everyone is asleep, she will then keep quiet. And when I bring her back to her room, she will go back to sleep obediently. Guess she must be looking for kor kor to play with.

But, she also fight with the kor kor, mostly toys. Since kor kor loves playing cars and blocks, she will sure want a share too. She loves cars too, maybe influenced by kor kor. She loves to push 2 cars in a crawling position, if not, push it along the tv cabinet. Kor kor always complains that the mei mei is disturbing her cars. I always advise the kor kor to share. Now kor kor also smart already, he knows how to take another car and purposely play in front of her and pass it to her, to exchange for his car back. Smart kor kor.

Isabel is a very expressive girl too..just like kor kor. She shows all her anger, happiness, curiosity, sadness on her face.

Lately Isabel is not eating too well. She rejected her porridge about a month ago and has not been on porridge for few weeks. She will just shake and shake her head and the porridge has no chance to enter her mouth at all despite all the distraction on tv and toys given her to play. She is a bread baby though. She just loves bread and only eat bread and bread. I tried mashed some pumpkin and applied on the bread and she didn't seems to like it. She prefers only plain bread. That's the reason I am trying to make some home baked carrot, vegetable bread for her. I have no idea what to feed her anymore. On some days, she is just on full milk. Very obvious she has lost some weight due to her poor eating habits. Even milk, she is now only taking about 5 ozs every 3-4 hrly, average about 3 times (with solids) or 5 times (without solids) in a day.

Sleeping wise...some days are good, some days are harder. She has weanned her night feeding off. Last feed around 9.30pm before sleeping time and first feed will be around 7am ++. If she gets overly tired, she will have problem sleeping. If she is being put on bed in time, she will sleep very well. She can only sleep on her own now...So, I dare not bring her travelling at this age as she will have problem sleeping when not at home. A big headache. Lately, when she is awake middle of the night or not able to sleep at night, she will requested to go out of her room. But when I bring her down to show her the dark and quiet living room and bring her to our bedroom to see Darren and daddy sleeping soundly, she will then requested to be back to her room and she will sleep willingly from then. Guess she must be looking for kor kor to play with her. A very playful baby.

She appreciates toys more than Darren. She loves cars, dolls (hug) and balls (something round). She also loves to play shape sorter and puzzles. She loves dancing and shaking her body and head. Whenever she hears music, she will start dancing.

She baby talks a lot. She imitates us on some words and at times she will surprise us with some new words like "Who's that" when listening to the phone. She can say apple very well too but when asked to, she will not say it out. She will only say when she fees like it. Her voice is just so sweet and I am waiting for her to really speak properly.

Overall, besides her eating problem this month, overall she is not too difficult. If everything falls within her routine, she is just fine. I just hope she will eat better as I am really running out of idea what to cook for her.

Happy 14 months old, my little princess!!

Weaned off night feeding...

It has been almost a week since I have stopped midnight feed. It was started with mommy away from home for 5 days and daddy took over the night shift. I used to wake up quite frequent at night and I was still having about 1-2 midnight feeding each night by then.

I didn't like daddy feed me milk and I rejected the milk totally. I'll push away the minute the teats near my mouth. Daddy got to bring me to his room and provide me with lots of new things, only I'll start drinking. Mommy was so worried that I'll this new habits after she comes home.

Surprisingly, after a few attempts, daddy gave up and not forcing me for milk anymore. In fact I was happier when daddy just put me back in my bed and gave me my pacifier. I'll just roll over and sleep again.

So, when mommy was back from Singapore after 5 days, I've stopped midnight feed. The first night mommy still made milk for me but I rejected the whole bottle. I then slept till the next morning. So from then on, mommy stopped the midnight feed and just gave me pacifier should I wake up middle of the night.

Now, I'll usually wake up once, around 2am, if not, I'll sleep through the night till the next morning without midnight feed anymore. Mommy is very happy and proud of me.

Happy 10 months old

Time flies...i'm already 10 month and 1 week old today. Mommy has not been helping me to do my monthly milestone for the past few months because she was extremely busy and she claimed that I have been giving her lots of problems. Well, you be my judge and see am I really a difficult baby that mommy has always claimed to be.

Weight & height not taken this month. Mommy guess my weight should be around 9kg++. Some people said I have long legs..not sure how tall myself is.

Feeding and solids..
-----------------------------
Still taking 5oz of milk 6 - 7 times a day. Need to hold on to something and play while drinking milk. If not, I'll push away the bottle and refuse to drink. Most of times my face will be splashed with milk when I push it away. So, need lots of distraction for me to finish the milk.

Solids...sigh...mommy's biggest headache. I am refusing solids. I don't like mommy spoon feed me. I am very scared whenever mommy tried to put things in my mouth. So, I reject cereal, porridge, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes, fruits..basically all food. Mommy tried 2 times of porridge and I was so scared on the third day that the minute I see the spoon, I will push it away and kept shaking my head. So, mommy is putting a stop here to prevent me having phobia of eating. She will try again when I am more ready. Surprisingly today I saw mommy eating apple and I showed interest in having. She tried to scrap some for me and I love it. So, mommy said she will try giving some apple to me tomorrow.

Side note: After the last episode of sickness, my stomach suddenly could not digest the brown rice cereal. I finished mostly 3/4 of the brown rice cereal before falling sick. After I recovered and mommy tried giving me again, I vomited all the cereal out after few hours. It happened twice even mommy bought a new can the second time. She dare not give me the cereal anymore and because of that, I started to have phobia in eating.

Sleeping
--------------
Another nightmare for mommy. Hehe..I am like an energiser battery. I don't sleep a lot and I don't sleep well at night. I am now taking 2 naps a day..ranging from 30 mins to 2 hrs. Wake up around 8.30 to 9am. First nap around 11am to 12pm. Second nap around 5pm. Make me nap not too bad but make me sleep at night is a nightmare. I just cannot fall asleep and it takes around 2-3 hrs to make me sleep at night. I will show sign of sleepiness around 9pm and after changing and all, I still refuse to sleep till probably 11pm++. So, mommy is very frustrated and tired by then. That also explained she has no time for herself too at night.

So, I am back to bouncing net whenever mommy fails to make me sleep by carrying me. Yes...I still cannot fall asleep on my own. But when I don't want, even bouncing net won't work. I will turn over in the bouncing net and want to crawl out.

Since I have started standing by holding on to the bars at the baby cot, I've knocked myself many times when mommy left me crying inside. Sometimes I'll wake up middle of night and demanded to be carried or refused to sleep, mommy will just let me cry in the baby cot till I am tired and sleep on my own. Mommy is getting more worried with all the knocking here and there, today she is trying to put me sleep in the play pan. She has moved the downstairs play pan up and see if I can sleep well. At least I won't injured myself in the play pan.

Some nights can be very terrible for mommy that she managed to sleep only 2 -3 hrs a night. I will cry and cry and demanded to be carry to sleep. Yet, the minute I change my position I will cry again. I just could not find a comfortable position to sleep..somehow I just feel uncomfortable, so i cry and cry lor. Teething maybe??? So now, the minute I sleep, mommy will quickly sleep too to catch some sleep before I start waking up and started crying again. Difficult huh??

Major milestones achieved..
---------------------------------------
Yes..I can stand by holding to something and walk sideway by holding to something. I can sit unsupported but sometimes I will still tumble over. I like to stand nowadays whenever I can reach for something to stand up.

I'm not so scared of stranger though I still don't allow strangers to carry me. At least I won't cry the minute I see them. The other day mommy brought korkor and me to another aunty house, kor kor and I were sitting so quietly throughout the whole sessions. Mommy was so proud of us.

I have 5 teeth and the 6th is coming out. 3 up and 2 down..another one is deep inside on the top.

I've started baby talk. I will mumble mumble..papapa..mumum..and other baby language.

I am crawling very fast now. I like to crawl on flat surface and especially the cold floor. Mommy purposely bought a piece of foam mat from Mini Toons to put on the floor in front of the tv area.

Others..
------------
I love to smile. Well..some people said I am pretty..hehehe..but some do say I looked like a boy.

I love to play peek a poo and "ambo chak"..i know to use hanky cover my face and play peek a poo with mommy.

I love to look at books.

I love toys more than kor kor. At least I will spend some time playing toys.

I don't like to be left alone in playpan or walker for too long.

I like to go to kitchen or garden.

I accept stroller more nowadays.

I love soft toys, I will smile and start hugging or leaning my body over them when I see them.

I will smile whenever I see pictures of human.

I love children. I love playing with them and seeing them.

But most of all, I LOVE MOMMY! I am like a koala bear to mommy and only want mommy when I see her. I will give up whatever I am doing and want her to carry me. When mommy is carrying me, I want nobody and they have to force carry me away from mommy. When someone else is carrying me, the minute I see mommy, I'll cry and lung towards mommy. I am just very very attached to mommy.

Overall, mommy hates making me sleep and when I wake up, I'll greet her with my big smile and her heart melt again. That's my trick to win mommy back after a difficult night...heheh.. Will post some photos some other time. We need to sleep now. Bye and goodnite.

I can sit and stand now.

@ 9 months 3 weeks and 3 days old

A few milestones achieved in this month. Just a short month but I've developed so much and so fast. Maybe everyone is busy, that's why they didn't notice my development so much.

Now, I can sit quite steady. Mommy removed the mattress in the living hall and let me crawl and sit on the cold hard floor. I can pull myself up from crawling to sitting position very well. This was started in mid December last year. In the mean time, I started to show sign of standing up by holding on to my baby cot bars. Towards end of December, I can sit unsupported.

My body is very flexible. I can split my leg to 180 degrees and bend my body down to the floor.

Slowly from end of December till now, I have been trying to stand by holding on to things like baby cot or sofa.

Mommy feels that I have been growing very fast but getting harder and harder to take care of. Stay tune for my naughty post next.

Commando style crawling

@ 8 months 3 weeks

Yes...I started commando style crawling few days back but officially this 2 days, I have been crawling a lot. My moves are more obvious and I especially like to crawl on the floor than the mattress. I can crawl faster on hard surface. Mommy always worried my head will hit the floor but I know how to be careful when I want to turn back. I will slowly put my head on the floor, don't think I am stupid ok?? Although sometimes I cannot estimate the space and knock my head a little bit but it is ok.

Now, I can crawl very fast to grab the things I want. I especially like to grab kor kor's things. Whatever he is having/holding, I am interested to have it too.

So, mommy need to keep an eye on me closely because I like to crawl under the tv cabinet to reach out for the box or play with the base of the playpen or the wheels of the walker. Mommy don't mind me exploring, she is just afraid I put my mouth on it.

Hoorey..I am happy that I am so mobile now ...

Strong legs

@ 8 months 3 weeks

I have a pair of strong legs. Whenever I am sleeping in the master bedroom, the cot is smaller, hence my legs always stick out from the bar. My legs can go out from the one bar and go in from another bar. Sometimes I cannot pull it back and need to scream for help. I also like to lift up the cot bumper using my legs or stick my legs under the cot bumper and lift it up. So, cot bumper cannot prevent me from sticking my legs out.

Not only that, my legs are as strong as my hands. I can use both my legs to grab things, hold things. My kicks are very strong too. I love to lift both of legs up and drop it on the bed hard hard. I love the feeling of bouncing my whole body up and the sound of it. I especially like to do that on a hard floor. Mommy always worried my legs will be painful but no la...I just like the hard surface of the ground.

When I fight with mommy, during feeding or medicine time, I use both hands and legs to push away mommy's hands/bottles/syringe. Mommy needs to anticipate my action, or else, everything will drop on the floor...geng leh?

I have a pair of strong legs...even doctor said so...hahaha...

clap..clap...

@ 8 months 1 week and 6 days old..

About a week ago, I've started to master the skill of clapping hands. Now, whenever I want people to carry me, I will clap my hands and extend my hands out. When I am happy, I clap my hands too.

Side note:
I have been very sticky to mommy lately. Whenever I see mommy, I'll make noise and wanted mommy to carry me. When mommy is carrying me, anyone clap their hands and offer to carry me, I'll just turn my body away and indicate that I don't want them. I don't even want my kakak or daddy.

Mommy is happy on one hand coz she feels wanted..but the other hand, she feels I am a bit too sticky and picky. Well, what do you want mommy????

Happy 7 months old

A very backdated post...

Feeding
---------
1. Taking 5oz of milk 5-6 times a day. 3-4 hourly. Mostly on formula now since mommy admitted hospital 3 weeks back.
2. Started cereal 3 days before I turned 7 months. I dislike cereal initially but now I am ok with it. It takes time for me to adjust to a new food.
3. I have no problem drinking first half of the milk but come to 2nd half, I will need to hold something in my hand and play with it. Or else, I can't finish my milk. Even with something to play with, I still always leave 1 oz behind.

Sleeping
-----------
1. I still do not have a routine. I am a poor napper. There was once I could nap longer but after mommy came back from her Ipoh trip, everything went downhill. Now with the renovation on, it is even worse.
2. Night time is ok. Since I slept with daddy when mommy was away (Ipoh trip and hospital), now I can sleep better in the master bedroom with everyone.
3. My napping place can be on my own cot in bb's room, on kor kor's mattress in master bedroom or on my cot in master bedroom or on mommy's bed in master bedroom.

Overall
---------
1. I am very playful starting this month.
2. I am very responsive.
3. I always want people to play with me, talk to me.
4. I will cry when seeing people walk away from me.
5. My legs are very strong. I can grab things with my legs.
6. I can turn very fast. The single mattress downstairs is too small for me now. Within a minute, I can roll out of the mattress.
7. I can't crawl yet but I can move my body to the directions I want and grab my toys.
8. I get bored with my toys easily.
9. I like to chew on hard plastic parts, not the soft teether. I put almost anything in my mouth.
10. I started baby talk..first word..tata..then papa...now mama or mum mum... Daddy likes to hear me talk.
11. I don't sleep during my outing unless mommy carries me. I don't sleep in the car seat or stroller. That's why mommy doesn't want to bring me out.

Happy 7 months to me...

Making me sleep on my own.... (quoted from mommy's blog)

Quoted from my mommy's blog...

There are many things I want to train my kids.
I surfed the internet and read up parenting books.
The books taught us how to do it.
It sounds so simple and convincing.
But when I actually trying to do it...
It is really not easy.

I have been carrying Isabel to sleep and put her down to the cot.
She has no problem sleeping on her own after midnight feed, no carrying, no pacifier.
I'm sure she can sooth herself to sleep too during the day.
I tried leaving her on the cot when she seems sleepy.
She played for half an hour,
Make frustrated noise for another half and hour,
and started really crying for one whole hour.
Till she her voice has changed, she couldn't even control her own self,
despite me already carrying her.

Poor baby, I tried to be more patience but
the way she cried and the big big drops of tears flowing down her cheeks..
just make me feel so heartache.
I'm afraid all these crying will cause any side effects on her like
phobia in her cot, voice changed or bad dreams.....
Just so much worries....

At the end, she defeated the mommy.
She won...and I finally carry her back to sleep.

I have a mixed feeling...
relief that she finally stopped crying, finally fall asleep
down that I fail to train her to sooth herself to sleep,
sad that I have caused so much stress on her and finally still carry her back to sleep.

I even feel like a failure..how come I fail to make her sleep on her own...
I was asking for patience when see her cry;
I was asking for strength to make me more hard hearted;
I was asking for confidence for Isabel, hope that she can really do it;
I was asking for...i also don't know what..I just kept telling her..

"Isabel, it's ok. You can do it. You can sleep on your own. Just close your eyes and sleep. Mommy is here to be with you. Mommy love you (plant a kiss on her face and forehead). "

Yet, we did not manage to pass through this challenge.

I console myself,
It's ok...how long can I be carrying her to sleep..
there is no harm carrying her to sleep...
She falls asleep very fast when I carry her to sleep..
No point creating all this stress for yourself and baby.
She will soon outgrown it and be able to sleep on her own.
Just take it easy and enjoy carrying her.

Deep in my heart, I really wish she can sooth herself to sleep.
Then, maybe she can nap longer, sleep better, be more independent.

I'm feeling so demotivated now..to try implementing anything...
Maybe I just let her be...
What will you do if you were me?

Happy 6 months old = unpredictable baby

Mommy described me with one word "UNPREDICTABLE" for this month. Why? Let's see..

Stats first:
Weight: 7.17kg
Height: update later
Head Circumferences: update later

Sleeping pattern.
------------------
- sometimes sleep well, sometimes not.
- 3 to 5 naps a day range from 15 mins to 45 mins. On good day, can last for 1 hr or 2 but only happened once or twice.
- I'll still wake up smiling even just 15mins nap.
- My awake hours is around 2 hrs. Then I'll feel tired again.
- Lately, my body clock has changed. I used to sleep around 9pm and still the same but I will wake up around 11pm and started playing till 1am. Sometimes I get overtired and will cry till 3am before falling asleep soundly. I used to be able to sleep quite well at night but not this month.
- mommy still need to carry me to sleep.
- I nap in my baby room but has shifted to daddy's room for night time since we came back from Singapore.
- Funny thing, I can sleep through or quite well during weekend or holidays but on weekday or days daddy needed to go to work the next day, I will usually cry or being more difficult at night. This causes lots of stress in mommy.
- When I sleep on the cot, my legs and hands will sometimes stick out from the bars.

Feeding pattern
-----------------
- I am drinking 5oz of milk nowadays.
- Mommy is weaning me off from breastmilk. I am taking more of formula milk now. Enfalac A+.
- At times 5oz is not enough for me. I'll cry for more milk. At times I left around 20, 40 or 60ml of milk.
- My feeding internal range from 3 to 4 hourly.
- Funny thing, if my internal is longer, usually I cannot finish my milk. If my internal is shorter, I can finish the whole bottle.
- Started drinking water now.
- Mommy intend to start me on semi-solid soon.

Others
--------
- I can turn over and turn back to chest up easily on both side. I can basically roll and roll on a mattress.
- When on tummy down, I can lift up my head very high and turning left and right.
- I like to throw things.
- I like to do patting using my both hands. Eg, pat my leg.
- I like to touch or feel the face the person carrying me.
- I can pinch people very hard.
- Started to explore toys - play gym and electronic toys.
- Put everything in my mouth.
- Still sucking toes.
- Laugh out loud when funny sounds are made.
- Laugh when we tried to pull things from her hands.
- Love bathing. Always tried to grab the side of the bathtub and love splashing water with legs and hands.
- Love to bite on hard things rather than the soft teether.
- Started utter "DAH" and make more sound (like talking/complaining)..last Friday.
- Started like talking after that.
- Afraid of stranger. Daddy also don't want. Only want mommy and kakak.
- Afraid of new environment.
- Dislike loud noises.
- Very sensitive to sound and surroundings.

Overall I still do not have a routine yet. Mommy is trying very hard to set me a routine but fail to. Main reason, I don't nap long enough and no fix hour of my nap. I just live on a 3 hr cycle. Feed on every 3 hr. Play around 2 hr and get tired and TRYING to sleep on the last hour. It goes round the clock like that but no fix time for feeding, sleeping and playing. Mommy really wish I can sleep on own and longer, then she can do more work. She said I am occupying most of her time now since I sleep so little.
