Tot school: 9/8/2012 (Thursday)

Again, today I told mommy I wanted to do pouring the minute I entered the study room. So, mommy allowed me to some water pouring.

Initially I couldn't control my motor skill and the cup was overflow. Mommy then taught me when to stop and not to overpour by pouring slowly. I then acquire the skill and slowly, I managed to pour it without overflow.

Remember I love anything that related to water. I spent about half an hour on this activity..repeating the pouring process.

Next, we revisited the pegging exercise again. I didn't do too well the last time and need some help from mommy. However, this time, I surprised mommy by clipping all the pegs on the bowls on my own without much effort. Yes...I finally pass this activity and my pincer grip has definitely improved a lot.

I repeated this activity a few times without much effort and mommy was so happy.

Next, mommy took out some ice cream sticks and let me form some shapes with it.   The first shape I formed was triangle, followed by square.

Later, mommy showed me how to form a house by placing the triangle on top of the square.

Then, we formed some letters.

After that, I lined up all the sticks together and started counting.

Mommy then gave me a long container and let me insert the ice-cream stick inside one by one. I like the sound created by the sticks when it drops inside the long container.

After that, we shaked and rolled the container on the floor and creating some sounds from the sticks inside.

Lastly, I took out kor kor's CSI set to play. Mommy taught me how to form a face by putting the eyes, nose, mouth, ear, hair and face together. I like to form an "aunty". From then on, I called this game "aunty". hahahaha...

Child Play: Zingo

This Zingo game is actually Darren's birthday present from a good friend. Not only Darren is benefiting from playing this game, even Isabel is having fun with it too.

I lay all the cards on the floor and let Isabel took the chip out and match with the items on the cards. A very good matching activity. At the same time, she is also learning new vocabulary from the cards.

I always believe that everything that a child play has a learning opportunity. We just need to pay a little more attention and be more creative. They don't really need a lot of "real toys"...which do not provide much learning value.

Isabel has been playing a lot of Darren's board/education games. I just need to change the game a little bit to suit her age. She is learning a lot from it.

Child Play: Colours puzzle

Today I wanted to present you this "colour fun to play puzzles" that I bought from a shop nearby my house.

This is very suitable for toddler aged 2 to 3. You just need to match the colour with the pictures in the same colour. Same pictures has more than 1 colour.

This is very similar to the montessori colour box 2 lesson.

Giving excuses

One day, mommy wanted me to try some funny drink. I saw the content and I was not interested. I shaked my head. After a while, mommy tried again, I told mommy in a serious look,

"Bel bel cough cough, cannot drink. Bel bel hachiu (sneezing), cannot drink."

Mommy shaked her head, she said "So young already know how to give excuses..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we were having lunch and Isabel decided that she had enough (the bowl still has some leftover)  and started to get out from the highchair, mommy asked, "Isabel, do you still want somemore?" Isabel replied,

"No...bel bel cough cough...bel bel cannot eat already.."

*shake head* she really know how to use "cough" as an excuse..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isabel loves to eat sweet things, especially raisins, cranberries, vitamins...We told her that too many sweet things are not good for her.

One day, mommy gave her some fruits but she refused. She told mommy,

" This one sweet sweet, no good."

Tot school: 07/08/2012 (Tuesday)

I am still very much interested in all the new set of games mommy bought for me. So, today, I took it out myself from the shelf.

First, I started playing with the Geoforme. Today, I surprised mommy by forming 2 semi circles together and make a bigger circle. See, letting me explore myself will definitely give her more surprises than her guiding me what to do...

I also started to realise that 2 triangles will form a square too.

Next, I took out the BuBu game again. Mommy took this opportunity to play the memory game with me. I couldn't get it right, so mommy just let me do matching instead.

Mommy repeated many times that she loves to see me focus in doing something serious.

Diaper free

by mommy @ 2 years 5 months and 4 weeks old..

I wanted to post this post for quite some time but have been forgetting about it. Anyway, I want to annouce proudly that Isabel is now diaper free from day to night..all day long...

I knew she was ready to potty train when she was around 2 years old, since she can understand us. But, this mommy was lazy and due to the maid leaving, I postponed this until she was 2 years and 3 months old. If I did remember wrongly, I started potty train her in early July.

It just took me a day to make her understand that she has to pee in the toilet bowl and not in her pants. She can conveyed her message very well to me everytime she needs to pee..So, there was not much accidents happenning during the training.

To my surprise, since she knows she has to pee in the toilet, she auto control her bladder even during her nap and night time. So, overnight, she was potty trained for day and night..I was amazed....It was just so easy and happened over night.

However, I still have no confidence that she can control her bladder during her sleep, though she proved to me by having dry diaper during most of her naps and night time sleep.  I still put on disposable diaper for her every night, so to finish up the remaining disposable diapers that I had..but every morning, I have to throw away a dry mamy poko, which makes me feel very wasteful.

So, one day, I decided to put on a cloth diaper for her, instead of disposable diaper. At least, if she accidently pee in her sleep, she won't wet her bed. If not, I can just wash it everyday and there will be no wastage. A good idea.

So, she is wearing her cloth diaper at night and just her panties during her nap. So far, there was no accident since the first day I potty trained her. She woke me up 2 or 3 times middle of the night asking to pee in the toilet. Even during long trip, she refused to pee/poo in the disposable diaper.

Now, I have to make sure she pee before going out. In public places, I have to carry her to pee in the toilet. But it could be messy..I feel that it is harder for a girl to pee in the public toilet compared to boy. Twice, she wanted to poo in the public toilet but fail. She waited until we reached home. Poor girl...

So, I can finally announced that she is 100% diaper free...I am proud of her...

princess wanted to go daddy office...

i have been chanting this the whole day...

" bel bel big girl already, then can go daddy office"

It is all because kor kor followed daddy to office on Monday after school and Isabel wanted to follow too but daddy said Isabel is still a small girl, cannot go office.

Tot school: 26/07/2012 (Thursday)

Since mommy introduced me the Geoforme activity last week, I fell in love with the set. I frequently take it out and played with the different shapes. Now, mommy didn't take out the cards for me to follow and build. She now let me form the shapes myself.

This time, I surprised her by arranging the same shape in 3 different sizes. She was surprised to see that and took out the remaining shapes in different sizes to let me arrange.

See, I am able to arrange all from big to small.

Next, she took out some cards (a free gift set from the enfa milk powder) and let me do shape matching. She uses the Geoforme board and arranged 4 cards on it. I am able to match the shapes.

After that, we requested the memory game from the shelf.

Last, mommy took out this set of new game for me.

It contains of 12 pieces of puzzles to form the town. 16 models mode of transportation ( 4 aeroplanes, 4 ships,  4 cars and 4 trains) and 6 memory cards.

First, we need to fix the puzzle to form the town. I need help from mommy to complete the puzzle.

Next, mommy taught me how to place all the vehicles on to the puzzles.

Last, mommy guided me how to play with the different mode of transportation - car runs on a road, train runs on a track, ship sails on sea and aeroplane flies in the sky.

Mommy think this game is very educational. We have no time to continue with the memory game provided in this set. I like to play with the car model very much.

Confused with "me" & "you", "thank you" & " welcome

I learnt how to say "thank you" since very young. I heard kor kor said thank you when given something to him; mommy taught me say "thank you" when she gave me something...so I know I must "thank you" when someone give me something or do a favour for me. So, I have been saying "thank you" when such situation occurred.

But lately, after every time I said "thank you", mommy sure said "you are welcome". Even kor kor also the same..and I started thinking, maybe I should say "welcome" instead of "thank you". Maybe mommy is "correcting" me. So, one day, after mommy gave me something, I said to mommy,

"Welcome mommy"

Mommy started laughing....she then asked me said "thank you".

Now, I am very confused...I don't know I should say "thank you" or "welcome". So, sometimes I will say "welcome", sometimes I will say "thank you". Mommy said she also don't know how to teach me anymore..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When mommy scold me, I will turn to daddy and daddy will ask me,

"Mommy scold you, issit?"

So, now, whenever mommy (or anyone) scold me, I will tell the other person,

"mommy scold you" while sobbing,.

One day, daddy scolded me and I went to complain to mommy,

"Daddy scold you" while crying..

Mommy tried to correct me by saying,

"Isabel, no.daddy scold ME, not YOU."

I then stopped crying and told mommy,

"Daddy scold mommy, not bel bel.."

Mommy started laughing...

I don't understand...I am confused again...

It's true daddy scold you (me) ma..but why mommy taught me and say scold me..so daddy is scolding mommy lor..am I right???

now, you and me...how to differenciate????

Tot School: 20/7/2012 (Friday)

Today, the minute I walked into the study room, I pointed at the top shelf and told mommy I wanted to do "pouring". Mommy then took the container down and decided to let me to use spoons to transfer millets from one bowl to another.

I like this kind of transfering or pouring activities. I can spend a long time doing it.

Next, mommy took out some straws, in different length and taught me how to arrange from long to short.

Tot School: 19/7/2012 (Thursday)

Today we learnt about forming pictures using different shapes. I know the shapes quite well - square, triangle, circle, rectangle, heart. Mommy bought this set of geoforme for me from a DIY shop in Summit. The orginal one is very expensive but this one is relatively cheap.

Mommy is trying to teach me how to build a man using different shapes, following the cards given in the set.

Later kor kor came back from school and he joined in the fun too.

Next, we did lacing exercise.

I have played this a few times but I was not able to put the string in the hole. This time, I am able to threat the string in. It means that my fine motor skill is getting better. Mommy is so happy to see me finally able to do it. See how focus I was during the "stringing" process.

Then, we proceed to wooden puzzles.

We bought this owl wooden puzzles from the same DIY shop too but this set is not so good. The wooden edges are not fine enough and the children has to be very careful when handling it. Well, china product, what to expect, right?

I just love doing puzzles.
