My speech development

@ 1 year 6 months 2 weeks and 2 days old

My speech has improved a lot lately. Well, I like to imitate what other's say like the adults, the tv and even "The talking Ben" from Ipad..

Actually I can say quite a lot of words but I just don't know how to use it..or sometimes I just don't like to say it out. I just like to say what I feel like at certain moment. So, teaching me to say something is not easy. It has to depend on my mood and when I feel like saying it out...

Some words that I know very well and can say very well and often nowadays are..

-apple, ball, bear, dog, woh woh, cat, car, mile (smile), babu (balloon), baby, shoe, shi shi, ng ng, shit shit, itchy, bite bite, pain, scare, light, dark dark,
-daddy, kakak, kor kor, jie jie
-nose, eye, mouth, ear, hand, leg

Words that I can say but do not say often..

-mommy, poh poh, uncle, aunty, di di
-yes, no, chair, table, fish, socks..

Well, I can't remember much unless prompt by mommy. I like imitating sounds too..Compare to kor kor, mommy and daddy feel that my speech is much better and faster than him. Mommy is waiting for the day for me to really call her "Mommy" or "Mama". I just don't like to call her. I will everyone except her though I know how to say it out. This really makes mommy very frustrated..hahaha...

Mami..........

@ 1 year 6 months 2 weeks and 1 day old

Today marked the first official day of my Princess Isabel calls me "Mami" - very loud and clear.

I have been waiting for this day to come for so long. She called kor kor first...then followed by daddy and kakak..loud and clear but no mommy or even mama. She knows how to pronounce mama but just never use it to call me. Lately, about 4 days back, I first heard her pronounced "Ma..mi.." and I was delighted. Slowly she pronounced mommy after some prompting but still not really calling me.

Yesterday, we were playing balls together with Darren in the hall. Darren needed me to help him picked up a ball near me and I get him to call me loudly. Then this "kiasu" princess followed suit. And they then started taking turns to call me and I gave them a kiss for calling me. So, Isabel also never want to lose to Darren..She called me clear and loud and get near me and reqested a kiss from me too. There were so many "mami"s and kisses around and no need to say, this mommy were super happy and contented...

This morning, she finally called me "mami" without any prompting or competition from kor kor. She called mami to go to her and pick her up early in the morning. She called mami to carry her when she saw me. But..unfortunately, when she can finally call me but I was not available for her. Kor kor is sick and having fever. I have to take care of him and mommy cannot carry or even touch you because mommy didn't want to pass you any virus.

Poor girl, she has been calling mami whole morning but mommy was not within her sight and didn't even touch/carry her. Honestly, mommy is feeling very bad. How mommy wish mommy is available to you immediately the minute you call me. Hope you won't get demotivated and not calling mommy anymore since mommy is not by your side when you call me.

Mommy wish to hear you call "mami" thousands times and I can fly to you and give you a big hug and kiss soon. Mommy loves you, Isabel!

Tantrums throwing..

@ 1 year 6 months 1 week and 6 days old

I started to show more of my tantrums since last week.

I will throw a tantrum when
..what I want was not given to me..
..kor kor trying to snatch my things.. (actually I snatched kor kor's things first, then he snatched it back)
..I want to go somewhere and was blocked or restricted by the adults..

How did I throw my tantrum/show my frustration?
..I will pull my hair..
..I hit the adult by patting on them very hard..
..I will scream VERY LOUD with my high pitch voice..
..I hit my hands on the floor..
..I swing and throw thing on the floor..

What happened after I throw my tantrum..
..sometimes my wish get granted..
..but sometimes I get scolding or even hitting on my hand (if I throw things or hit people)..
..sometimes no one take notice and eventually nothing happened after that..

So what happened after I get scolding or hitting
..when the adults mentioned the word "scold scold..", I'll cry first..not small cry but loud cry comes together with tears...
..when the adults hit my hands, I will cry buckets..and try to look for my saviour - kakak but mommy prohibit kakak from sayang me..so bad la mommy..so I have no one to turn to, eventually mommy will come and explain to me again and sayang me back. But hor, it is not easy to calm me down you know...I can cry and cry for a long long time..so better don't start me on crying..it is not easy to stop me..

Conclusion..
I find it very useful to throw tantrums or show my angry/frustrated emotions nowadays. Well, I can get the things that I want... But...

Mommy's point of view..
This girl started her terrible two syndrom too early. Need to discipline her now, or else, she will soon be the king in the house and bully everyone. She is more expressive with her emotions nowdays and even understand the adults better now. So, it is time for discipline.

Sensory Box

Today mommy brought out the sensory box that she has prepared for me last week for kor kor and myself to play.

It was a cooling evening and kor kor has no bau bei. So, we played for a good 30mins on this until mommy stopped me coz it already past my bathing time. So, we stopped and kor kor helped me to keep everything. Thank you kor kor!!

I like playing with it..scoping it and trying to shake it left and right. I even tried to throw the stones outside but mommy scolded me and make sure I picked it up and put it back again. I also fight with kor kor some of the spoons and cups too. But kor kor is always very kind to give in to me.

Finally I decided to sit myself inside the box. I think this is more fun!!

Taman Botani Shah Alam & Pusat Sains Malaysia

updated by mommy..

Yes..we finally made it to this two places during our last long weekend. We were supposed to go during the Raya Merdeka holiday, together with May's family but both places didn't open during the long holiday.

Taman Botani Shah Alam was an impromptu trip. Everyone surprisingly woke up extra early on Friday morning (Malaysia Day) and the weather was perfectly fine for an outdoor trip. So, I thought of Taman Botani Shah Alam. Checked the website and they opened for that day. So, I suggested to hubby and he agreed to the plan.

We then packed everything and changed everyone. Had our "kai si hor fun" breakfast and we arrived there around 10am. The ticket for adult is RM3 and FOC for children below 6.

We forget to bring stroller, so we have to carry Isabel. We took quite a long walk from the car park to the entrance. Good thing is, inside the taman, they provide free shutter safari bus to transport us around the taman. It was quite a lot of people on that day. We waited 3 rounds before our turn. The safari bus has big open windows. It was a nice ride as it is very windy and you don't feel hot at all. Even Isabel enjoyed her ride in the safari bus.

We toured the whole places first and finally decided to land on the "taman permainan" and the "Four season house". Unfortunately the four season is closed for renovation at that moment. The playground was a bit pathetic but the surrounding was very serene and natural. There were mosquitos around too. Luckily I brought the mosquito repellent and I applied all over their body. Thank God they did not get any mosquitoes bites.

Darren and Isabel had a great time at the playground. Isabel enjoyed her slides and Darren enjoyed climbing around. We did some walking around there. It was quite tiring as I was carrying Isabel and the weather is getting hotter and hotter.

We then walked out to the bus station. Surprisingly the toilet there maintained quite well and it was just after cleaning when I walked in. We then had some ice-cream at the bus station while waiting for the bus. It was very windy sitting at the bus station.

It was about 12pm when we finally board the bus. We were supposed to go to the mini zoo but the weather is getting hotter. Hubby suggested we come again next day as we didn't want to expose the kids to such hot sun. So, we left the place around noon.

We then collected our family photo as the studio and had nasi kandar lunch at Kota Damansara. We reached home around 3pm. At night, we went out to SS14 for Bak Kut Teh dinner and bought some DVD for the weekends. I had a good time watching "Unlimited" with hubby at night after Isabel slept around 10pm.

Then came Saturday. It was a planned trip to Science Centre. All of us woke up late on that morning. We packed everything and finally left the house around 11pm. Had Dim Sum as brunch near Atria and proceeded to Science Centre. The admission (including the Dinausior exhibit) is RM8 for adults and RM5 for children above 4.

It was a great place as we explore almost everything, except the outdoor. Isabel loves the fishes swimming around and we can see her excitement from her expression and smiles. She even wanted to touch the fishes but extended her hand. She really enjoyed herself. As for Darren, he has fun discovering buttons and electronics stuffs. Hubby was with Darren most of the time and I was carrying Isabel. Even we adult had fun exploring the places.

When we entered into the play area, we saw 2 gigantic dinausaur in the center. Their head moves and we can hear the "roaring" sound too. So happened I placed Isabel onto her stroller and she got a shock when she looked up and saw the dinausaur head. She started crying.

Darren then had some play there while I tried to make Isabel sleep. Darren was scared at the Dinausaur exhibit but I kept encouraging him to go near and told him there are not real. Darren had a good time "peddle" the jet plane.

We left the indoor around 4pm and wanted to go to the outdoor. But before we reached to the wet water area, we heard thunders and the sky was getting gloomy. It was quite a long walk from the indoor to the wet area. We didn't want to take the chance, so we walked back and decided to leave. The place closed at 5pm anyway. So we will still be back again the next time.

We then proceeded to Subang Parade while Isabel had a good walk around MPH and read some books inside too. At 7pm, we left Subang Parade and went to Empire Shopping Mall for our dinner. We had some western food at the Jaya Grocer. Did some grocery shopping, we then left the shopping centre at 9pm.

Isabel was extremely tired by then and after we reached home, bathed everyone and the kids were all asleep by 10pm. I had my own time watching Final Destination 4 from my notebook.

Sunday....my "holiday". I went for yoga in the morning, then met up with my bff in 1Utaman and had hi-tea at One World Hotel. We had a good time catching up with each other and I enjoyed the food too. We chatted from 12.30pm to 5.30pm...then I sent her home.

I reached home at 6.30pm and all the kids were still napping. I took a short nap, then went out for dinner. We had KFC for dinner but I just munched a bit here and there as I was still very full. It was a tiring day for me.

Overall, it was a fruitful weekend for me. I just enjoyed the weekend very much. How about you?

Her progress with her glasses..

updated by mommy @ 1 year 5 months 3 weeks and 6 days old

It has been almost a month since Isabel collected her glasses. I am proud to say that my girl is accepting it quite well. It is better than what I have expected. I mean it is not easy to put something on a toddler's face all the time and I was expecting a lot of rejections from her. To my surprise, it took her around 2 days to accept her glasses and not rejecting it. She was wearing it for 1.5 hrs without taking it down for her 2nd attempt and slowly once increased to 3 hours on her face without removing it.

The first night was hard. It took me some effort to distract her at the notebook while watching her favoruite youtube and slowly I put it up for her. When she didn't pull it down and let it remain on her face, I was super happy. Slowly, she knows this thing didn't cause harm/pain on her and she slowly accepting it.

Taken on the 1st night.

Also, I guess it is due to the kor kor wearing glasses as well. She wanted to be like the kor kor. We also told her that she looks "pretty" with the glasses on her. During that first few weeks, she will say "pretty" whenever we put the glasses on her.

Now, she is ok when we put the glasses on for her but she will try to take it out herself on and off, sometimes due to heat or the glasses shifts place when she places her face on the pillow or sofa. Though with a band on it, she is able to take it out herself without assistant.

We are supposed to let her wear the glasses during her awake time but it is not easy. I can sense that sometimes she is not too comfortable when the glasses is on her nose for a prolong period and she will try to take it out. Once she took it out, I can see the glasses mark left on her nose brige. It hurts me whenever I see that. I will then let her rest for a while and enjoy her "original" look before I put it back for her again.

At times, she can be very cheeky. She will try to remove the glasses and I will make a "stern" voice to warn her not to take down her glasses and she will pull her glasses down a bit and look up at me (like those old people wearing glasses reading newspaper and lower their glasses when they watch tv) and she will smile sheepishly with me. Once I smile with her, she will pull her glasses out.

She also knows to adjust her glasses when the glasses shifted the position. She will try to align it back though I still need to help her with that. She will want to play with her glasses sometimes by swinging it around.

One problem with her glasses is - her ears are a bit high up and the legs of the glasses always "push" her ear down. If we lift the legs up above her ear, it will be too tight for her (my kids have big head, especially forehead) and the lenses basically "stick" to her eyes and face. To leave the legs exactly lie on top of the ear is the best position but it pushes her ears down after wearing for a while. Sigh..it is just so hard to get a pair of suitable glasses for my kids.

Overall, I can say that, she is consider very good in adapting to the new glasses. I am defintely very proud of her. Thank God, it didn't make the process hard for me as it is already heartbroken seeing them wearing glasses, if they reject it further, it will make the situation worse.

Look at her...she just like to wear glasses nowadays...even with this...

Medrdeka and Raya holiday - First time beach experience and Kota Tinggi, Pahang.

@ 1 year 5 months 2 weeks and 6 days old

During the Raya and Merdeka holiday, daddy brought us to a few places.

30 August 2011 - KLIA, Bagan Lalang Beach.
-------------------------------------------

So happened this day my grandparents were coming back from their Taiwan tour. Daddy decided to bring us all to the airport to welcome them home (though they already booked their van together with their friends back straight to Melaka). We gave them a big surprise when they saw us at the arrival hall at 2pm. I surprised everyone by allowing grandma and grandpa to carry me without much fuss.

The airport was quite quiet. I like walking around the empty space. I also like the balls hanging around a shop and insisted to hold the ball and walk on my own.

Then, daddy and mommy had their lunch at Burger King while I only had milk and biscuits for the whole day.

We left KLIA around 3.30pm and adjourned to Bagan Lalang beach. Along the way, mommy stopped by a store to buy some dragonfruits. They sell lots of dragonfruits along the roadside. Daddy took his sweet time to drive round coz kor kor and I were sleeping the car. We have lots of extra time to spare and mommy wanted us to sleep more.

Though this is not the first time I came to a beach (daddy brought me to the beach first time in Melaka but I was being carried most of the time), this is the first time I step my foot down on a sandy beach and played with sea water.

After setting up the mat on the beach, mommy let me down and applied sunscreen and insect repellent for me. I slowly explore the place and mommy gave me a hat to play with.

Kor kor and daddy were already down at the seaside and started playing with water and sands. So mommy carried me there to join them. Initially I refused to come down and only carried by daddy and mommy. Slowly, daddy let me down a bit and let me feel the sea water on my feet. I kind of like it..well I love water...then slowly I fell in love with the sea wave washing up on my feet. Later, mommy took over me and I started playing with the sea water and refused to come up.

Initially I was just half wet, then slowly I wanted to sit down and feel the water on me. Finally I was almost all wet. I was still wearing pampers. I really love the sea water. Later, I also slowly step my feet on the sand and walked with mommy holding my hands. Not long, I started walking on my own and even spotted a 100Plus tin can and wanted to kick and play with it.

I didn't really like sand play as I feel it is too dirty. After I touched the sand, I requested to wash away the sand from my hands. So, I ended up in the sea water again. I think the best thing is still the sea water.

When mommy carried me back to the beach side, I even let go of her hand and walked myself down back to the seaside. I just love the water. I splashed and splashed my legs on the sea water and ended up the water all splashed on to my face. I even tasted the sea water a few times.

Mommy has to basically carried me back to the beach and washed me up after some time. She was afraid I caught cold and also the sun was quite hot. Most important, she is worried I tasted too much seawater, which is not so clean for me.

We couldn't find any toilets around to wash up. Luckily we prepared some extra drinking water and mommy used that to wash me up. I was not very clean but at least washed away the sand from my body and I changed to a set of new clothes and pampers.

We then left the place around 6pm. Daddy then stopped us at a petro station for mommy and kakak to wash up. I then slept all the way back to KL. Daddy then brought us to Bumbo Bali, Puchong for dinner. I vomitted some biscuits out at the restaurant.

We reached home around 9pm. After washing me up and settled everything, daddy trying to make me sleep but I refused to be let down in the playpen. Daddy hold me for an hour and finally mommy came to rescue. Shet tried to feed me milk but after I sucked the milk, I throw out. It was the biscuits that I ate. Mommy started to worry about me. It took them a long time to make me sleep that night (about 2 hrs or so). Finally I slept and thank God, I was all heathy again the next day except developing a mild running nose. I must have infected by kor kor.

Overall, I had a happy time at the beach that day.

31 August 2011 - Bukit Tinggi, Pahang
---------------------------------------
The next morning, we went to Bukit Tinggi, Pahang together with Aunty May's family. We visited the Colmar Tropicale. We left the house quite late, around 11am and reached there around 1pm. Again, I slept through the journey there.

The place were crowded with people and it was drizzling there too. Mommy was carrying me in the sling while holding on to an umbrella. Such a coincident that we met yi yi SY there too.

There is nothing much at the place and we thought of adjourned to Japanese tea house but Boh poh could not walked up the steep hill. So, we gave up the idea of going up. We then decided to leave the place as the place is really crowded with people.

Daddy then drove to Gohtong Jaya for an early dinner around 5pm. I was sleeping while there were having dinner. Though I was wide awake while on the way home, I did not make much noise. I was playing (bullying) kor kor most of the time in the car. We reached home quite early that day, around 7.30pm. After washing up, I still got some time to play.

Overall, I was behaving very well during this 2 days outings. I slept during most of the journey and did not make any fuss.

Mommy declared next 2 days as rest day as kor kor and myself still have not recovered from our runny nose. It was a fun filled holiday for us.
