Allergic to ?????

On Wednesday night, mommy was cleaning me up and changing me to pyjamas and discovered some red dots on my feet, sole and also palm. Initially she thought it was mosquito bites but it wasn't after some detail look at it.

She just monitored me through the night and the next morning, I woke up complaining itchy on my palm and feet. Later, she also slowly discovered that my body and back started to have some red dots..something like what I had developed after the Roseala virus. However, luckily that I have no fever and still extremely active.

She brought me see doctor yesterday and doctor said it is very likely to be allergic. Allergic to what??? The only 3 things mommy can think of were..

1. Fresh "Wai San" - fresh burdock in english. I was fed with the soup boiled with wai san, white reddish and carrot the night before. First time trying this.

2. Mommy brought me for a walk in my tricycle that evening itself and suddenly attacked by a swamp of mosquitos near the bushes area. I might get biten by some insects and it runs in my body and hence, causes this. I had about 5 BIG BITES on my legs and it swell like a 20 sens coin size.

3. During the walk, my legs/body could have accidently touches some leaves or something that caused the allergic.

So, mommy is refraining me from going out of the house at the moment in the evening. I am only allowed to play in the porch.

Now, I am on medication and the allergic didn't seems to subside. Though after I woke up from my sleep and the dots seems disappear, but after a while, it comes back. And now, the worse is my back. Look at it yourself...

Mommy feels so heartache seeing me so itchy and the patches on my back. She hope I can get well before Chinese NEw Year.

Look at the big mosquito bite I had.

Updated at night
-----------------
My allergy didn't seems improving and getting worse. My whole body, hands, arms and legs also get rashes. So, mommy decided to bring me to the doctor again.

The doctor has to prescribe "steroid" for my condition, together with antihistamine for 2 days. If condition improved after 2 days of steroid, I still need to continue the antihistamine for another day until it has fully recovered. Or else, I need to see the doctor again.

The steroid pill is very very bitter. Doctor advised mommy to mix it with something and let me eat after a meal.

Clever daddy mixed it with ice-cream for me. Initially I tasted a bit bitter but later daddy kept feeding me ice-cream, then the bitter taste has gone away. Yeah...1 dose done. Mommy is worried for the next 3 doses. Moreover, I will develop cough after eating too much ice-cream.

Just hope this steroid will work on me soon....the itch is terrible. I am scratching myself till scratched mark everywhere with scars

Poor girl, you get infected by us...

updated by mommy @ 1 year 6 months 2 weeks and 6 days old..

Kor kor started the cycle. Down since last Wednesday. Then kakak's turn on Friday but luckily recovered by Saturday. Followed by mommy on Saturday and have yet to recover. Yesterday it was your turn. So sorry, baby..mommy already tried very hard to quarantine ourselves and prevent the spreading of the virus but it seems like the virus is too strong.

You started having mild fever late evening. Then you complained stomach ache. We suspected daddy gave you too much coconut water to drink, with the good intention to cool down the body temperature. Immediately at 8pm, daddy sent you to Dr. Cheah in USJ. You came back with mild fever and some redness at the throat but stomach was fine. We need to monitor your fever.

Since mommy was having fever and coughing whole day. Daddy have to take care of you. You slept well from 11pm to 6am. By 6am, your cry woke daddy up and found out that your fever shot up to 39.5 and you were shivering. Daddy got a shock. Immedaitely he gave you a suppository and sponged you the whole morning. Your fever did not seems to go down from 6am till 1pm. Kakak and daddy have to take turn to sponge you to reduce the temperature. Once they stopped sponging, the temp went up again. Daddy fed you another round oral PCM at 11am but still no sign of effect.

Mommy was worried. Mommy called Dr. Low, Dr Cheah for advise. Nothing much we can do except we keep sponging you. Dr. Low advise voren suppository but Dr Cheah against it. Daddy bought Kool fever and applied on your forehead. By 1.30pm, your fever seems to subside. We all relieved. But by 3.30pm, your fever came back again. We need to sponge you again...it goes on and on...

Mommy can't do anything, except watching you from far. Mommy is sneezing and coughing and still running a fever. Mommy cannot take care of you. Seeing you lazing at downstairs without energy, mommy's heartache. Mommy hope mommy can take away your sickness..mommy hope mommy can suffer from you.

Mommy feel very bad for not being available to you when you most needed mommy. Mommy kept hearing your cries and whinning from upstairs but mommy can't do anything. The minute touches you, you started whining, wanting to complain, I know. Daddy and kakak advised mommy not to go near, so I will make you feel sad. I know you are sad for not able to see mommy.

My baby Isabel, please recover soon..be strong and let us fight the virus together. I'm sure you can do it...mommy loves you...

Pneomococoa jab + Roseola Virus

updated by mommy on my 1 year 5 months and 3 days old.

Poor girl...I took her for Pneumococoa booster jab last Wednesday morning and she ended up have fever for 3.5 days. Not normal fever but HIGH fever.

Doctor said her fever after the jab should only last for 24 to 48 hours. When she developed her fever on Thursday night, instinctly we linked the fever up to the jab. We only gave her Paracetamol syrup. I didn't take it too seriously as I know the fever is normal. However on Friday, her fever never subside at all even after the fever medicine. Her body was warm the whole day, especially hot at certain hours. However, she was still active.

Until Friday night, her fever never subsided even after a few round of medicine. I started to get worried when it approached 10pm++. As the medicine didn't help, what if she developed high fever at night? Which I might not able to detect since she is sleeping in a separate room. Hubby was outstation and not back at that hour and I started to call my sister for advise. Finally, I drove out to a 24 hr clinic around my area at 11pm to buy a suppository (Voren 12.5mg) and Ibuprofern to replace the Paracetamol syrup. I also bought "Bye Bye Fever" from 7-11.

She was sleeping soundly when I checked on her at 12am++ and her temp was around 37.8. It was not high, so I didn't disturb her and I went to sleep. Hubby came home around 2am+ and woke me up, telling me that Isabel's temp was 39.2. I got a shock. But she was still sleeping soundly. Without hesitation, I went to her room and checked on her. Somehow I woke her up. I then took the chance to give her the suppository. ABout 2 hrs later, she woke up crying but she was sweating all over. Thank God that her fever has subsided by then. It was the first time that her fever was under control since she developed her fever.

However, her fever came back the next morning. I gave her Ibuprofern and it helped a bit throughout the day. But towards the night, Ibuprofern didn't seems to work as well somemore. Her fever came back very fast and her temp could be quite high.

So happened hubby's aunties were around and stayed with us. I have to take out Isabel's room to accomodate the guests. So, we put Isabel to sleep with us. What a wrong move....she didn't sleep well at all that night. It was so difficult to make her sleep. While she was soundly asleep (still with fever on), I moved her to another area as she was sleeping under the air-cond, I woke her up. It was about 2 hours after she slept (around 2.30am, she slept around 12am++), she didn't sleep until 7am. Can you imagine that???? I fed her medicine and she refused milk. She kept making noise and I brought her downstairs and she finished 1 VCD. She lied next to me watching the whole VCD while I dozed off after 1/4 of the show. When the show finished, she woke me up by making some noise.

I carried her up but she still refuse to sleep. She crawled here and there..and I was trying to be extremely patience with her. It was until 5am++, that I lost my patience. I let her cry... and she woke hubby up. I was super frustrated and angry. Hubby wanted to take over but she only wants me. I brought her down again and on the show but she still seems not happy. By around 6am++, my helper woke up and she took over. I went upstairs and I started crying......it was such a stressful night for us. I feel so bad that I let Isabel going through this (changes in her sleeping routine and environment) while she is not well. I also blame myself for not standing firm to secure the room for her since I know she is such a fussy sleeper. I was feeling so down and depressed that I can't stop crying and my heart was full of blame. Anyway, she finally slept again in my helper's arm around 7am.

Back to her sickness, she was not her own self on Sunday. Her appetite has dropped. She refused milk totally. She only have bread and water for the whole day. She looked lethargic and kept having high fever despite giving Ibuprofern. Around 2pm, we decided to send her to Columbia hospital.

It was a right choice as her temp was 39.5 when we were there. The doctor gave her suppository and sponged her with water. She struggled so much and was in fear. Poor girl. Doctor said her throat was red and it looked like bacteria infection. With her high fever and poor appetite, he prescribed her antibiotic. Finally she fell asleep in my arm. We were allowed to go home after half an hour after the sponging to confirm her temperature has dropped and another 15 mins after a doze of antibiotic is given to her to see if she is allergic to it. We were home by 4pm. (Note to myself: Antibiotic given - Clarithromycin (Klacid).)

I napped with her that evening and she just looked so tired the whole day. She was so clingy and cranky. She will just make noise and we didn't know what she wants. On Sunday night, her fever came back around 3.30pm and I have to give her another suppository and another doze of antibiotic.

Monday morning, she looked very dull. Not really responding to our calls or commands. We were extremely worried. She also appeared very lethargic and tired. She woke up 8am and wanted to sleep again at 9am. It was very unusual for her. She slept till 10.30am. We then decided to send her to Sunway hospital.

Immediately I called Darren's school to arrange him to stay for day care for a day. Packed everything and I drove to Sunway at 11.30am. Saw the doctor and doctor confirmed that her throat was red and he asked us to continue with the antibiotic. As in her not responding well to us, we need to observe her for a few days. In case she still react the same even after the fever subsided, we need to send her back again. But according to the doctor, Isabel looked fine.

Went home and she napped again. She has been napping a lot on this day. Towards night time, she appeared more active. She also accepting her milk at night time. It was a great relief that her fever did not come back anymore the whole day. I still sleep with her at night to monitor her for one more day. She was so active that night (probably sleep too much during the day) and refuse to sleep till 12am++.

Today, she is back to her own self..though her appetite is still not too good. Her body started to develop rashes..Now I know...she was infected with Roseola virus..same thing that Darren had it when he was 1 year old. I checked back my blog and discovered that they have the same symptoms.

She is now on the road to recovery and back to her active self. But her "manja" and moodiness are still here. She is also back to sleeping and napping on her own today (I was so worried she will refuse to sleep on her own again after I have been sleeping with her on the queen size bed in her room for 2 days.).

Poor girl...from taking the jab to the last visit to doctor in Sunway hospital, she is now so afraid of doctors. She was taking the fever medicine very well at the beginning but not after so many rounds and different type of medicine. Now we have to force the medicine in using the syringe. I feel so sorry for her.

Isabel, mommy feels so sorry for you that you have to go through all these. Mommy hope you will recover soon and gain back the weight (0.5kg) that you have lost in this few days. You are already small size, now you looked even more fragile and thin. Mommy loves you!!!

Look at the red spots on her body..

Fever and "fong mok" after the MMR jab,

Poor Isabel, after the 9th day of her post MMR Jab, she started to develop the fever. Doctor said usually the fever will start around Day 4 to Day 10 and I was thinking she might be lucky and able to escape from that. Unfortunately on day 9, she finally developed fever.

Prior to the fever in the afternoon, she woke up from her nap and I discovered her legs got a few red big patches and I thought it was mosquitos bite. I applied cream after her bath and checked the whole body. It was only her right leg. But after she woke up from her 2nd nap, both her legs, especially thigh area were full of red swollen patches.

I was suspecting some insects bite coz it is definitely not mosquitoes bite. But later, I felt that it wasn't really bites too. It looked more like "fong mok". I then applied the cream to both of her legs.

Just before I changed her to pyjamas before bedtime at night, her patches were diminishing. I was quite sure that time that it was not bites but most likely allergic.

She then started fever that night. Poor girl, I have to cheat her to get her medicine taken. She didn't really sleep well too and wanted to be carry. I have to set up my alarm clock to wake up in the middle of the night to check on her.

The next morning her fever still persists. The red swollen patches still appeared after her nap. Very funny. I called the doctor to check and she said the fever very likely is due to the MMR jab but not the "fong mok". She asked me to monitor her for a while and see how it goes.

Luckily the "fong mok" didn't return after 2 days and the fever went off after 2.5 days. I think the fong mok is caused by the fever.

Look at the swollen patches on her leg. See also feel very geli and itchy. But I don't see her scratching it so most probably it is not itchy for her.

Nose Bleed...

@ 1 year 1 month 1 week and 6 days old by mommy

2 nights ago (sunday night), Isabel suddenly crying around 5am and I walked over to her room. Before I reached the room, I make a bottle of milk. The minute I opened the door, I was SHOCKED seeing her standing at the playpen (facing the door), crying without pacifier in her month and between her nose and mouth, it was FULL OF BLOOD....

I got a big shock and quickly ran over to her and checked what had happenend. Apparently she has a nose bleed and I didn't know whether she scratched her nose till it bleeds or the nose bled itself. I was scared and I quickly took a handkerchief and wiped it off. She didn't allow me to wipe it off and kept crying and turning her head away from me.

I soothed her down, gave her milk. Still left some stains of blood around her nose. I had a close look at her while she was having her milk. It was her left nose that bleed. I checked her hands and fingers to see any blood stains between her finger nails (if got, very likely it is due to her scratching or digging nose) but her hands has LOTs of blood stain but not between her finger nails. So, misery not solved.

Anyway, thank God that the nose has stopped bleeding and I couldn't really sleep after that, worrying her nose will bleed again. It really shocked me seeing the blood..

Look at the blood stain I found around her bed the next morning.

Constipation!

I have not ben poo poo for 2 days. I used to poo poo everyday and my stool was soft. Today is my 3rd day and early morning after I woke up and was playing downstairs, I suddenly feel like poo poo. I pushed and pushed..again pushed and pushed..still cannot come out. I tried lying down on the floor tummy down, still my poo poo cannot come out. I tried pushing very hard this time, then suddenly...I feel so pain at my anus and I started crying. I was crying loud and mommy thought I was having stomach ache and my poo poo cannot come out. So, she carried me up and kept saying "ng ng..ng ng" trying to help me to push. Later she can feel from my pampers that there was a stone like thing at the bottom and thought I have pooed. Once she opened up and what she saw was a BIG stool stuck at my anus and couldn't come out. She got panic and I was crying in pain. Without thinking twice, she used her fingers to help me to dig out the "gold". But it was still hard and it could't come out. I was crying and struggling. Mommy got even more panic and part of the stool went back in but still stuck at my anus.

Panic..panic...mommy immediately passed me to kaiak and she called our regular pead to see what we can do. Unfortunately the nurse said the doctor is seeing a patient and asked to cal back in 10 mins time. Luckily during that time, kaiak carried me with my legs open wide and big and she bent my body. I cried and cried and finally I last cried, I managed to push the big hard stool out. It was a relief...for everyone.

Mommy felt so pitiful for me and sayang me while kaiak cleaned me up. Later, kaiak fed me milk while mommy was washing up and I have another round of the same episode again. This time, I poo a lot..hard and soft one too..all came out one time...finally i feel much more better now. Relief..relief....

Mommy said maybe my solids intake has increased this 2 - 3 days and i have not been drinking water. That causes the constipation. Thank God it is over now. Mommy is trying to feed me more water from now.

Cannot escape...

@ 8 months 2 weeks and 1 day old (by mommy)

Dear Isabel,

My baby darling, mommy is so sorry that you just couldn't escape from those nasty bugs this time. You finally get infected yesterday. Mommy's worse fear is finally here. Mommy feels so sorry for you as you have just recovered from your flu recently and now you are down again.

Kakak told mommy that you were warm yesterday morning. Gave you paracetamol but your fever did not subside. Sent you to clinic immediately and you were already 38.6. Doc said your throat is red but cannot confirmed whether is virus or bacteria. Can't do much and just need to monitor you further.

Whole day your fever went up and down. You looked lethargic. You couldn't sleep well. Mommy can only observe you from far because mommy is still not recover yet. Kakak is still taking full care of you. Towards the evening, your fever went up to 38.6 again even after Ibuprofern. Daddy was worried and immediately he sent you to another pediatrician that opened at night in USJ. He said your throat is very red and he prescribed you the same antibiotic as kor kor and mommy - Augmentin. Poor girl, you have to start your antibiotic so young. Kor kor took his first course of antibiotic when he was nearing 4 years old.

Mommy feels so sorry that mommy failed to protect you from all the bad viruses/bacterias around the house. Everyone is down and only kor kor has recovered. Daddy and mommy are still not recovered..how are we going to take care of you?

You are getting smarter nowadays. You know when mommy is feeding you medicine and you clamped your mouth tight and refuse to take the medicine. While you were taking your flu medicine, mommy can still cheat you by distracting your attention but not this time round. You know when the medicine is coming and you just kept shaking your head, together with your hands and legs, trying to push/kick the medicine away and buried your head in kakak's chest. So sorry that mommy has to force feed you the medicine. Sorry..baby..so sorry to cause so much trauma in you in taking your medicine.

You are such an understanding baby. Normally when you see mommy, you will make noise and wanted mommy to carry you. But this time when mommy is sick, you just looked at mommy with a non-smiling face but never fuss nor demand mommy to carry you. Baby, you know mommy is sick? Mommy knows you are not happy this few days as I can't hear much of your laughter nor seeing you smile so much. Mommy can't wait to carry, hug and kiss you again, my baby girl...

Mommy really wish everyone recover soon..then we can have our fun time again together. Please..please pray that Isabel and everyone of us will recover soon...Mommy just feel so heartache seeing you sick...

I'm sick...

@ 8 mths and 5 days old

Kor kor passed the virus to me last Friday and I started falling sick on Saturday. Started with fever on Saturday evening and proceeded to cough and flu. I got worse on Monday and mommy sent me and kor kor to a nearby pediatrician. The pediatrician said there was some wheezing sound at the airways and likely a virus attack.

Towards the evening, I looked really sick. Teary eyes, blocked nose, bad cough and I get agitated easily. Not happy with everything. Another fever attack at night too. Daddy decided to send me to Sunway and see my usual pediatrician the next day.

Confirmed it is a viral attack and doctor prescribed me 4 types of medicine. Mommy already felt the stress in feeding me medicine because I rejected medicine very much. No choice I have to take it. After force feed me for about 2 times, I am slowly accepting it now - not too difficult to feed me but still needs lots of distraction and singing song sessions. However, there is a particularly one type that I hate and I have to take 4ml somemore. Other than that, the other two I don't resist much. Since my fever did not come back since Monday, no need fever medicine then.

Mommy is praying hard that I recover soon as my block nose and coughing make me hard to sleep soundly. I still have lots of phlegm and can hear from the way I breathe. However, my eyes not that teary anymore. I don't look so sick now.
